A couple months ago, I had the pleasure of appearing on the Zero Xcuses podcast with Kenyon Zitzka. Focus and Mindset drives how you approach your health – either from a reactive, nothing-will-change, you’ll-never-get-better FIXED mindset, or a proactive, empowered, responsible GROWTH mindset.
Food and Nutrition provide the essential raw materials that build your body and brain UP, or tear it DOWN.
Your nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and nerves) controls every Function so you need it for total Health. Any distortion of your spine and posture can interfere with your Function and Health which can lead to symptoms and disease.
Fitness, Movement, and Exercise is obviously crucial, and you know it. When you want to get in shape, lose weight, and feel better, this is the pillar I’d bet on that you think of first.
With ReFresh and Sleep, you allow your body to rest, recover, regenerate, rejuvenate, and repair. You’re constantly doing activities that stress your body – physically, chemically, and emotionally – so if you’re not taking time for repair, it will never recover.
In the episode, I also touch on the 6th Pillar which is Faith and Spirituality. This doesn’t mean religion. But, it does mean that you believe there’s something out there that’s bigger than us. That you want to contribute in a positive way in this world.
Because there are now “6,” I call it the Family Health 6-pack.
These are all aspects of your, mine, and everybody’s health.
The beautiful thing is that the 6-pack is completely under your control.
That may provide relief in your mind because you know it can get better.
But, it may also scare you because you don’t know how to do it, where to start, who to trust, what’s right or wrong, etc. In general, it can cause overwhelm.
When it comes to your health, we want you to avoid overwhelm because it’s a huge ‘stopper.’
We want you to keep it simple and consistent.
Create one small habit at a time.
Progress and growth over perfection.
Feel the success each time you progress, no matter how small that “win” is.
That’s our goal for you because to accomplish anything you want in this life, you need your health.
